Four characteristics that determine the quality of a diamond;
CUT COLOUR CLARITY CARAT
CUT - The precision and delicacy of a diamond's cut dictates how much light is reflected. Good proportions reflect between the facets up through the crown. Too shallow or too deep a cut lets some light escape through the pavilion.
COLOUR - Subtle colour differences allow gem quality diamonds to be graded from the prized, totally colourless stones, to the highly prized fancies.
CLARITY - Each diamond is graded according to its unique combination of minute mineral traces called inclusions. The fewer the number of inclusions, the more rare, hence more valuable the stone. The fewer inclusions also means the stone itself will reflect and sparkle more!
Carat Weight - Carat weight is the method by which diamonds are sized. One carat equals 100 "points", so the weight of a diamond of 25 points is 0.25 carats or a quarter of a carat.
